We've been enjoying having Justin's parents visit the last few days -- even if they did bring Humboldt County rain with them!

Lorraine and I admire camels (and gas pipelines) on the way to Umm Bab, where we went snorkeling on Christmas Day.More camels, this time on the way home. (Note increasingly murky weather.)
Proof that I do occasionally enter the kitchen! Here I am, making mince pies on Christmas Eve. They even turned out somewhat edible.Sugar cookies we made and decorated on Boxing Day. I made the weirdly foreshortened Christmas tree, wreath, camel/Loch Ness monster and angel (wearing a red-striped scarf to support the Qatari football of team, of course)
It rained almost nonstop on Boxing Day, so we had a lazy rainy day. And, naturally, Justin & his parents played pinochle.

It's a washing machine AND dryer! Tres European. I've always wanted a front-load washer, since they're more environmentally sound, but this particular model has given me second thoughts. Perhaps if we had one with a capacity greater than three socks, I'd be happier.

Wow. Yeah, it looks pretty tiny. There's no way that would work for my family!

We don't have a clothes dryer right now, and while that adds a great deal to my sense of environmental smugness (okay maybe not), it's a huge pain because we can only wash one load of laundry per day due to drying-time constraints. We currently have a big backlog of laundry, and I'm going to have to break down and take a bunch to the laundromat.
