Today, for the first time ever, I pulled up outside a juice stall and honked my horn for service. I feel like a real Dohaite now!

I was buying Casablancas (a layered drink of coconut, avocado and strawberry juices) for a little gathering we had at work for a coworker's birthdays. Our friends sang the birthday song to him in Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, Urdu, Bengali and English, and a few minutes later another friend dropped by later to sing "Sto lat" in Polish. Things like that make me very happy about my life. :-)

I'm sure you've heard enough of my PDQ Bach collection to be able to pull off German as well -
"Hoch soll er leben, hoch soll er leben, dreimal hoch"

Coconut, avocado, and some non-saturated-fat-berry... wow. You DRINK that?

Wait. "Sto lat" is the Polish happy birthday song? Not the city that Susan Death is from? You've just shattered my world! Or at least the flat one.

Yes you drink it -- it's like a smoothie, or a very fruity milkshake. (I double-checked when we went back yesterday night, and the bottom layer *is* strawberry. I normally get the Delal, which is mango, avocado and pomegranate, so I wasn't totally sure about the Casablanca.)

I had precisely the same reaction as you when Rosemary said she'd sing Sto Lat.

Also hit shock of recognizing the name Sto Lat; Happy Birthday kinda perfect name for town of the Daughter and son-in-law of Death.
