I went to the academy of sciences a few weeks ago. It is a pretty good, but kind of generic wildlife, natural history museum. It does have cute penguins and lizards. The exploratorium is like a science museum, but with only the fun parts you get to play with, plus contains the tactile dome which is completely dark, full of crazy textures, and awesome.

Also, I get back to town on the 4th.

Hrrrm, my flight doesn't get in until 9:30pm and I have to work the next morning. Probably this is not meant to be.

bear in mind you may have to make advance reservations for the tactile dome.

being a 22 year old myself, and clearly that mature, i think i am highly qualified to be giving such advice ;)

some restrictions apply, such as not having been to either of the who other museums

Depends on what they're interested in. Do they have internet access in the days before? Remember also that the CAS is next to the DeYoung and the tea garden.
And yeah, I'll be around, schedule still unclear.
