Justin and I went to City Center this afternoon to see The Dark Knight, but when we got there we discovered that instead they were playing...

...The Dark Night! Screenplay by St. John of the Cross, with original music by St. Therese of Lisieux.
Actually, seeing a Batman movie is a little like having a dark night of the soul: you find yourself irresistibly pulled into a deep vortex of chaos and gloom, culminating in that horrific moment when they unveil the technologically impossible deus ex machina they're going to use to get Batman out of this mess, and you are forced to conclude that there is no God.
OK, actually it was a good movie, but after all the hype I was expecting it to be epic. But in fact I prefer the previous installment in the series (Batman Begins -- or is it The Cloud of Unknowing?). And if Heath Ledger wins an Oscar next year it won't really be for his performance -- though the tardive dyskinesia was a nice touch.
