Rains fail to lash city

I'm disappointed. Obviously the Peninsula has gotten a new headline writer since last year: not a single RAINS LASH CITY has appeared this week. Instead we get headlines like City experiences a complete wet day. I feel this lacks the panache of RAINS LASH CITY, although the description of potholes as "axle-breakers ... the size of moon craters" has some flair.

It's still an interesting read for those wondering what happens when it rains in a city entirely lacking storm drains.

i hit one of those moon-crater size potholes on the way to work today. i could have sworn i bent my axle! remind me to check my front passenger tire before i go home today to make sure i still have air in it!

A friend of ours just had to pay a whole lot of money for bending an axle going over that horrible one just north of Sloped Roundabout last month. (That probably tells you who the friend is.)

I hit one this morning too, but there doesn't seem to be any lasting damage.
