International Day

Yesterday was International Day at work, for which everyone was encouraged to dress in their (or at least a) national dress. When we were asked last week whether we wanted to participate, most of us Americans wracked our brains for what we might wear to represent the U.S. I said to my coworker, "I'd represent Northern Californian culture, if I had brought any of my hippy clothes to Qatar." She pointed at what I happened to be wearing that day and said, "Well... you've got that...." So, while I did not officially represent NorCal, I did wear a hippier-than-average outfit.

Not my most glamorous shot, but it gives a better view of the embroidery on my shirt, and my unhippy-ish but still NorCal-ish Pride earrings. I love the bandanna-with-bangs-sticking-out look; it makes me feel like Snorkmaiden. Compare:
