Justin and I just got back from the pot souq, where we bought a peace lily, an aloe vera, and a plant of uncertain species. Of these, the peace lily is "mine" -- it seems the one I'm least likely to kill off through neglect.

So, now I have to name my plant! I think this is probably a good time for me to use one of those funky names Justin won't let me put on our hypothetical baby name list: Vlad, or Dominic, or Tabitha, or Agamemnon. Or maybe, since it's a peace lily, I should go for a peace-related name. Irene? Casimir? Absalom? Axl?

If you have a great name for a peace lily, let me know! Here's a picture, in case that helps. :-)

Well, my name, Susan, means lily, but "Sue the Lily" just might not cut it.

If it was a bush, I'd say go for complete irony and name it George - but on second thought, that would probably kill it...

Absalom. For no reason whatsoever except of all the names you named, that one stood out. :)

My albuterol inhaler is named Vlad. I thought you'd want to know.

Vlad the Inhaler instead of Vlad the Impaler, I take it? What a terrible pun. :-)

My first inclination would be to name it Passiflora, but considering that this is the actual name for Passion Flower / Fruit, this might be a wee-bit confusing. The cynic in me says that anyone believing in Peace in the Middle-East must be running a fever. So this being a Lily, you could call it... Delilirium

I dunno, it just looks like an Agamemnon to me.

It is the one on the right, isn't it? If it's the one on the left, it looks more like a Tabitha.

It is the one on the right. Somehow I'd thought it needed a more feminine name, but people seem to be voting for masculine ones.

I guess we could name the one on the left, too, but that's Justin's plant. :-)

In Greek peace is "galini".
Lily Galini might do it for you :)

For the plant of indeterminate species, you could go for the obscure game reference: Chuck the Plant.

(Otherwise, Casimir has a nice sound to it.)

Chuck the Plant!!! I love Chuck the Plant -- and his later LucasArts namesake, the dread pirate LeChuck.

Well, I don't know what Justin's going to name his plant, but I will certainly be calling it Chuck the Plant from now on.

Plant Name (from dad c.)

You could name it Gandhi. But then it might start refusing water or something...

It's always so ugly when you have to force the water into the flowerpot... it's like a nasal feeding tube, but without the internal aspect.
