Not-so-Holy Week

I'm going to be spending my Holy Wednesday night, not at a Tenebrae service, but at Georgetown's grand opening gala.
I'll spend Maundy Thursday at a pub, attending a farewell party for a friend moving back to the States. (At least I can argue that drinking with friends is a traditional way to celebrate Maundy Thursday, right?)
On Good Friday and Holy Saturday I'll be at the local TESOL conference.
And then I work on Easter Sunday.
Living here gives me a great appreciation for what it must be like to live in the U.S. as a Muslim or Hindu, and have your holy days completely ignored by the world around you.
