My sister sent me a link to some Qatar-related Flickr groups last week. A lot of the pictures have nothing in particular to do with Qatar, but some of them are fun.

It's a Falcon not a Hawk. Falconry is still very much alive as a "sport" in these parts of the world, in those countries that these species are not protected/conserved. A wounded falcon was recently caught here (near the Syrian border), with some of it's "gear" still attacked. It was untangled, treated, ringed and released.

Cool! I only just got it downloaded. We discussed whether the lyrics or the pictures came first, but at least in the case of ones like "Dwyer's rocking out on air guitar" the picture HAD to come first.

(Coincidentally, I once dated a guy whose middle name was Dwyer. To my knowledge he never rocked out on air guitar, however. Nor did he readily admit that his middle name was Dwyer.)
