Friday

Juz:22
Surahs:33:31 -- 36:27*
Themes:Guidelines for Muhammed's wives, family and friends; the truth of resurrection; the might of Allah; the surity of punishment for nonbelievers.
Aya:O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks all over their bodies. That will be better, that they should be known [as Muslims] so as not to be annoyed. And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (33:59)
Hadith:Narrated Abdullah bin Umar: I heard Allah's Messenger as saying,
"People are just like camels; out of one hundred, one can hardly find a single camel suitable to ride."
(Sahih Al-Bukhari 8/6498, O.P. 505. Chosen because I saw about a hundred camels yesterday!)

Saturday

Juz:20
Surahs:36:28* -- 39:31
Themes:The signs of God in nature; a description of the Day of Resurrection; the story of Abraham and his son agreeing to sacrifice the son; the truth of predestination; the stories of a number of prophets and the ways in which God tested their faith.
Ayat:He created you from a single person; then made from him his wife. And He has sent down for you of cattle eight pairs. He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation in three veils of darkness. Such is Allah your Lord. His is the Kingdom; there is no god but Him. How then are you turned away? (39:6)
Hadith:Narrated Abdullah bin Mas'ud: Allah's Messenger said,
"Whosoever has pride in his heart equal to the weight of a small ant shall not enter Paradise."
A person said, "Verily a person loves that his dress should be beautiful, and his shoes should be beautiful."
The Prophet remarked, "Verily, Allah is the Most Beautiful and He loves beauty. Pride is to disregard the truth, and to scorn the people."
(Sahih Muslim, 1:164)

*My original breakdown had verses 22-27 as Saturday's reading, but my new Qur'an includes them with juz' 22.
