Optical illusion
Feb. 9th, 2008 02:06 pmThis optical illusion boggles my mind.

Squares A and B are actually EXACTLY THE SAME COLOR. #787878, to be precise. You can verify this in Photoshop by sampling both colors with the eyedropper tool, or by opening it in two windows and zooming in on each square.
The more interesting way to verify it, though, is to select part of Square A and drag it down to Square B. It actually appears to lighten in color as you drag it into the shadow.
In this full-color version of the same trick, the brown square in the center of the top and the orange square in the center of the front side are actually the same color.
