Last week, Al Jazeera aired a documentary -- in Arabic -- on laborers in the Gulf. According to The Peninsula, a program that I assume is the same documentary will be aired on Al Jazeera English on Saturday evening. It's called "Blood, Sweat and Tears" and it sounds quite good. I may even have to (gasp) hook up a television so I can watch it. (Hey Samrya peeps, do we get Al Jazeera English? Which cable box?)

I'd tell my American readers to watch it too but, oh yeah, you can't watch Al Jazeera. Funny, that.

You may be able to view it here, though. Or it may be posted somewhere afterwards, like the Arabic one.

At the urging of [livejournal.com profile] syd___ and Greg, I've started watching Brotherhood 2.0, a video blog that consists of two brothers who have sworn not to communciate all year except through daily videos to each other. That doesn't sound like it should be riveting and hilarious, but it is.

Watching their vlogs has led me to contemplate two major things:
  1. the hilarity of adding "In My Pants" to all book titles: "The Inferno In My Pants," "So Long and Thanks For All the Fish In My Pants," etc.

  2. if I were to embark on a project like that, what would my project be? I love things like Brotherhood 2.0, and like [livejournal.com profile] postmarks, in which two people send each other very cryptic and artsy Polaroids, and like The Haiku Year, in which seven authors wrote daily haikus and mailed them to each other. It makes me wonder: if I had to commit to a discipline of daily communication with someone in some specific medium, what medium would I choose? And what interlocutor?

... And what about you? How and with whom would you choose to communicate?
