qatarperegrine: (books)
Since my reading-the-Qur'an-during-Ramadan plan turned out so well, I'm contemplating reading the New Testament during Advent. Given that I wish I'd read the surahs in chronological order rather than the odd order given in the Qur'an, I'm considering reading the New Testament in approximate chronological order. I don't, however, have any of my Historical Jesus books with me, but I've slapped together a list based on approximate dates of writing in my Oxford Annotated Bible, the helpful but incredibly disorganized The Bible: The Book that Bridges the Millennia at the UMC website, and the articles on New Testament books at Religious Tolerance.org. I'm not sure how accurate it is. Could people with knowledge in this area look the list over and make corrections? (I'm thinking mostly of Dad here, but I know there are other folks out there who might have some insight.)

Obviously this is a hugely controversial area and there's no way to get the list "right," but I want to make sure I don't make any silly mistakes and include something at the end that most scholars think should be at the beginning, or vice versa.

So, any suggestions?

Just a reminder that, if you're not already checking it from time to time, there are some very cool pictures at our friends the Dukes' website at dlduke.com. They're much better than me about posting pictures of stuff that's going on in their lives, and since we do so many things together, you can kind of pretend it's our scrapbook instead of theirs. :-)

I think the last time I posted a link to their website was for the pita pizza party pictures. If you go to their second October page, you can see pictures of us at the cancer walk, Latife preparing our Turkish iftar, Garangao gifts (ours were almost identical), the four of us at Fuwairit beach (click on the picture of David in the Gulf to see a video of all of us at the beach), the umseya Justin already documented, and our Halloween party.

In November you can see the lavish security-drill-cum-barbecue we had at the Thorpes' house and pictures from the beach at Umm Bab, which was my favorite beach so far.

In case you are too lazy to go to the Dukes' website but miss seeing my bright and shining face (hah), here is my favorite picture of us from their website. (If only Justin had moved an inch to the right!) Click for a bigger version.
