I haven't written much about one of the biggest differences between Doha and other cities in which I've lived, and that's the physical environment. Well, I've complained about the heat and humidity quite a bit, but there's more to the physical environment than that!

By the way, friends & family, [livejournal.com profile] foobart has started posting entries in his own journal. Don't forget to go read his, too!

And, as an addendum, The Peninsula is reporting that 16 babies were born on Independence Day, although I'm not sure why this is newsworthy, and that the first of these was a little girl who has been named Al Anood, which means a difficult-to-train female camel. I don't know if I'm more alarmed that Arabic has a whole word for a difficult-to-train female camel, or that a local family has chosen to name their daughter this! So if you have a name you were teased for in elementary school, buck up and think how much worse it could have been.
