Things I miss about the U.S.
Aug. 29th, 2004 10:03 amAccording to the lecture we had at orientation, culture shock sets in 2-4 weeks after moving to a new country. This is, of course, complete bosh. However, in honor of having been here 3.5 weeks, I am compiling a list of things I already miss about the United States:
That's it for now!
- My puppies.
- Public transportation.
- Recycling.
- English-language bookstores with a greater selection than Hardy Boys, Babysitter's Club, and a full range of Muslim tracts in languages I don't speak.
- Foliage.
- Lane discipline.
- The word "vegetarian." (So far I have accidentally eaten chicken, Jell-O, and at least one nasty maggoty worm, but that's a tale for another day.)
- Walking as a form of transportation, as opposed to a form of exercise (on a treadmill).
- Lasagna ingredients.
- Checking e-mail, Livejournal and AIM throughout the day -- it's pretty boring when everyone I know is asleep!
That's it for now!
