And here's a sample picture, to whet your appetite. This is Mary (right) and me outside the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, with a pond full of papyrus and lotus (the symbols of lower and upper Egypt, respectively).

I'm officially checking Egypt off the list. Been there, done that! Didn't get a T-shirt, but Mary did so perhaps that counts. Seriously, though, it was a great trip. I saw many great sights, learned a bunch about an ancient religion, hung out with my loved ones, and read lots of PG Wodehouse. I don't know what more you can ask for on a vacation -- other than a ride on a pack animal with a vicious disposition, of course:
