Either: "all humans have the same potential for greater affinity with G-d, and with us Jews, this potential was then realized"
or Jews "hav[e] this potential for greater affinity with G-d" but may or may not "actually meet this potential."
These seem like two contradictory ideas. Do all people have the same potential and Jews have just realized it, or do Jews have more potential, which may or may not be realized?
