I just saw a news article about Laura Bush addressing the World Economic Forum in Jordan.

My favourite paragraph:

She chose to keep off the sensitive issue of religious beliefs and only commented, "In the United States, we respect the traditions of all faiths."

Shee-yeah. That's why (just to address ONE facet of it) there are so many rich lawyers who made their fortunes prosecuting companies for inappropriate termination of employees. Oh, and remember the guys who firebombed all the synagogues in Sacramento a few years ago? And what was that Michigan city where they didn't want to hear the morning call to prayer broadcast?

Hello, pot? You're black.

The quote that got me last week was this one by Condoleeza Rice:

"Disrespect for the Holy Koran is not now, nor has it ever been, nor will it ever be, tolerated by the United States. We honor the sacred books of all the world's great religions."

We do???

And I thought the U.S. tolerated disrespect for just about anything. It's one of those pesky "free speech" things.

Naw, that's been rescinded with the Patriot Act. Don't you keep up with these things?

Come on, we have to go salute the picture of the president on the hour... don't be late, they'll be watching!
