"Owning a pampered pet"? I think somehow we lost the point here. My post wasn't encouraging people to breed prize Siamese cats with bows on their heads; it was to let people know they could contribute to feed feral and stray animals that are under threat of starvation. I hardly think Abu Huraira would disapprove. In fact, didn't the Prophet have a pet cat?
