Ramadan recipe

Mum asked me for recipes for Ramadan; this one wouldn't work for her, but some brave soul may try it. Or you can just contemplate the recipe and leave it at that. But no Qatari iftar would be complete without...

Harees
  1. Boil 25 kgs mutton for several hours, stirring constantly and removing bones as they surface.
  2. Add 10 kgs of rinsed whole-grain wheat; continue boiling for several more hours (a total of about 10), stirring constantly to avoid clumping.
  3. Add salt to taste.
  4. Invite a WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE over.
This particular recipe from The Peninsula. There are other recipes available online, many more interesting. For example, Iraqis eat it with cinnamon and sugar on top, like oatmeal. However, a Qatari harees would never contain flavors other than mutton, wheat and salt. Mmmm.
